Kays in the North

On this page, we go into more detail about the Kays who were concentrated in Lancashire and Yorkshire, and to a lesser extent the surrounding counties. The counties are divided into their hundreds, wapentakes, or (in the case of Durham) wards. As with all of our maps, hover over any area too see more information, or touch it if you’re using a touch-sensitive screen.

Our figures are mainly based on the 1841 census, but data has also been drawn in from our own Parish Register database. Click on one of the links below for more detail. We have a lot of pages in this group, and they can’t all be listed in every menu. If in doubt, return to this page and start again.
